|I'm interested in the Land Sharks. Any owners out there? I did a search and found a little info. Went to gvhbikes.com and looked around. Appears to be a nice setup for one of his steel frames, all Ultegra, ok wheels, snazzy paint job and that $2-2.5k price range. I'm considering a new LeMond Zurich, but like the idea of something different besides filling the coffers at Trek.... |
Any good feedback?
Oh ya- Anyone remember the SNL skits in the late 70's with the "land sharks"?

|Knock, knock - Who's there? Candygram...I've owned two Landsharks, and was very happy with both of them. I do feel obligated to say that the first was free, and the second was a pro deal from John Slawta (Mr. Shark). Still...
BTW, Andy Hampsten won the Giro d'Italia on his LS back in '88 - I think he would rate as another happy customer!

|$2 - $2.5k? Last I saw he was offering an even better deal of $1999 (I think) for full Ultegra Landsharks. And while he has stock frames and sizes listed on the site, he can get you custom geometry or paint for the same price.
Other than the lack of lugs, what's not to love?

|If the geometry works I'd take a filet brazed Land Shark beauty from John Slwata with Ultegra for $1995 over a Lemond Zurich any and every day of the week.|

|I don't have a Landshark, but I purchased a bike through GVH about 4 years ago. Gary really worked with me to make sure that the bike would fit. The service was prompt, and the bike was delivered ontime even though it was shipped during the Christmast season. I'd do business with GVH again.
Yep, I still ride the bike.

|I've been riding a Viner Competition I bought from Gary in September and I'm very happy so far. I definitely recommend GVH.
I haven't ridden a LS, so I can't comment there, though I certainly remember the old SNL skits. From looking at Gary's site, I must say that most of the LS paint jobs, while obviously applied with skill, are a bit outlandish for me. But I did see a local lady riding a purple fade LS last weekend and it was gorgeous.

|Not a Land Shark but Gary built up a 5900 frame set (sorry filling the coffers of Trek) for me. He was great to work with. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.|| |
