I bought this bike. I didn't intend to win it but I bid and no one else stepped up for the next four days so i said WTF and I get to finally have a bike with Campy and can used it as my travel bike and not have to worry about it getting trashed.

Anyway, I intend to have S and S couplers added. Since it will travel to lands unknown I'd like to make it a triple. Looking at the pictures on the e-bay auction, could I go triple without a significant outlay of cash?

That's a nice bike! Looks like you got a pretty good deal too. I'm not sure about the older campy stuff, I've only had 10 spd gear. I would contact http://www.branfordbike.com/ they REALLY know campy there.
I think you'll need to buy a crank, bottom bracket, longer rear derailleur cage, and probably a new left shifter to go triple. Not cheap. I'd just buy a wider range rear cassette and call it a day, but that's just my opinion. Enjoy the bike.

Several online retailers sell 10 speed, double or triple "upgrade" kits. In order to switch to a triple you'll need a new BB, crankset, front derailleur, chain, and you'll probably also have to swap out the left hand ergo lever. I would strongly recomend converting....after the initial sticker shock goes away, you won't regret it.
Thanks for the reply..S ana S gonna cost $595..Ouch!!Inhighgear

Thanks for the replies. Going to check out the need to replace the left shifter. I climed Slumgullian Pass this summer with my Shimano double, 39-25 lowest gear, and swore a million times that I'd never head to a tour without a Campy trple with a 29 on the back.

The upgrade with S and S Titanium Couplers, hardcase, cable disconnects, realigning the frame, and adding split cable stops to the toptube will cost $1005 at Bilemky Cycle works. But the ability to have a bike packed in a airline approved sized suitcase to take with me at monents notice is worth every penny.

I don't think you'll have to swap the left-hand ergo. however, I do think your main ride is going to end up with Campy components (Campag if you're British). mine is.

I'll confirm the opinions above, both of 'em.
