Knoxville, TN area rides over ChristmasBikinCO

I will be visiting my wife's family over the Christmas holidays and want to do some riding. They actually live in New Port. I will have my car so driving an hour or so to a ride is not a problem. I was thinking about the Gatlinburg, North Carolina, and Knoxville areas.
I'm down in Chattanooga. . . 3 hrs from NewportMike P

I know some good rides down this way and I have spent a good deal of time riding in the area just south of the Smokey Mtns. I have a few scenic/hilly rides starting from the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest. I might be up for that drive.

I am not familiar with the Knoxville riding. There are some painfully hilly rides near the Newport area. Look at a map for Brevard, NC. I hear of a completely insane loop, 54 miles round trip, that includes part of the Blue Ridge Parkway, Sliding Rock, Davidson River, Devil's Courthouse, Black Balsam. Never done it myself but if you really love hills you might want to check it out. A friend of mine can give you some more info if you're interested; let me know and I'll give you his email address. He might even go ride it again.

Go to www.smwbike.org for the Knoxville club. They have a Yahoo group discussion list where you can find out about rides and/or post your request.
