I'm going to New Zealand in January for three weeks. Does anyone know if there's a place in Wellington to rent a decent road bike? Just don't feel like lugging my bike half way around the world, but will if necessary.
Good place to startdeHonc

bikerbob,

New Zealand is a great place to go and ride - the Kiwi's have their own bicycle maker - Avanti. On the Avanti website, there is a list of dealers and contact details. I'm sure if you contact some of these NZ based bike shops - they will be able to help you out. Web site : www.avanti.com

Have a good time. Ride Safe.

I grew up in Windy Wellington and as far as I know the only bikes you can hire are 4 wheel things to cruise around the harbour. To be on the safe side, I'd recommend lugging your bike around. There are some good hills... It's all hills. I hope the wind isn't blowing to hard for ya!

Why not try www.wvcc.org.nz?muzza_b

I'm an Aucklander, but take my bike to Wellington when I visit. Weather permiting, there is a spectacular ride around the waterfront.

Why not try the Wellington Veterans Cycling Club at www.wvcc.org.nz? If you email them, state your frame size etc, you may find someone with a training bike they are prepared to lend you. We are a pretty hospitable bunch down here. Don't expect a CAAD 7 of a Colnago - but someone may offer you a ride.
