Drink and ride. It really isn't such a bad thing. Drink some beers and pedal down the Iowa country side. Even Budweiser is there supporting it.

How 'bout them Hawks?!?
Ran the table!
Muck Fichigan...and all the rest of the also-rans. I'd kill to see the matchup with OSU. That would be the Nat'l Championship, in my world. I'd bet the house on Iowa, they'd win by at least 10.

I understand the Hawkeye fans excitement. Ferentz has done a great job with the program. HOWEVER, you can't expect a national championship run playing unranked teams. ISU wasn't ranked, like now, and I can't remember what PSU was ranked or if they were. Michigan was pretty much the only serious BCS team they faced. That won't sit well for their chances for a championship. Their schedule doesn't help Banks' shot at the Heisman either. Not playing this week will get his face forgotten by voters. Still, a good season for the Hawks. A sweeter season for the Cyclones knowing deep down, that one loss was from them in a bragging rights match.

quarter, the cyclowns win by 5 in the final minute, and you call that WHUPPED?!? Uhh...OK, whatever.
No, what Oklahoma, Texas, K-State, and Colorado did to ISU (combined score of 169 to 47), now THOSE were whuppins. Or didn't y'all catch those games??
Early ripe, early rotten, its an old saying.
So, imagine what OK, TX, KSU, and CU would have done to Iowa...TJeanloz

...all of those games. I like the Hawkeyes chances in all of them; I think OK would be the toughest test, Texas and Colorado not so much (no offense intended to you, I know Barnett's a proven big-game winner, and CU came on strong late, but I just don't think they could handle Iowa's balanced attack and unmoveable run defense.) K-State/Iowa would be a fun game to watch, the teams are very similar. It would be a shoot-out. Heck, this is half the fun of college football, kvetching about mythical games, right?

It sounds to me like you are saying that certain points shouldn't have counted because because the Herky Jerkies were just having a bad day. Maybe they should have gotten do-overs on those fumbles. So I guess you're right. If you can get the rest of the world to agree to those rules, Iowa would become the national champ.

Relative to the topic at hand, the rest of the season is completely irrevelent. The fact is, Iowa State earned the football bragging rights for the state of Iowa for an entire year and I, for one, am going to enjoy every single day of it.
Not at all, the ISU game totally counts...RhodyRider

...especially in Ames - it seems very significant to you to have beaten Iowa. Great! That's your bowl game then, congrats. FWIW, I never once implied Iowa should have a shot at the BCS national championship game, I'm just really pleased that my alma mater has a bona fide program once again. From 1-10 to 11-1 in four years, hey thats a pretty nice accomplishment for Kirk Ferentz and the squad.
I'm a bit puzzled by your apparent hostility toward me and UI - what's up with that?!? Even under the anonymity of the forum, I think I can smell some sour grapes. Sorry your team shit the bed late in the season when it matters most, but you don't have to take your disappointment out on me & Iowa.
Have a nice day, Sport.

I'm not hostile toward anybody. I grew up in Des Moines and went to school in Ames, but that was a long time ago. I just thought it would be fun to play the rival sports fan game to see if I could get a rise out of you.

The Des Moines Register is pretty hypocritical when it comes to alcohol during the ride. The team I have been associated with for nearly ten years received a scathing letter from the Register concerning our participation in some time honored RAGBRAi traditions, ie: booze. Yet they allow Budweiser to have team busses and DJ at several locations each day throughout the week. I guess it's how you view moderation as well as responsibility.

I always waited until I got to the destination city. It was hard enough avoiding the drunk bikers and just plain bad group riders sober--let alone after you tipped a few.
