I'm looking at a used Pinarello Surprise. Does anyone have any experience with this frame, ie. ride qualities? Thanks.

An LBS owning pal of mine had one as his own ride; I was looking at buying it, and test rode it a good way.

It's a great frame. Light, stiff, and tracks true even at speed on rough roads. Steering is still quick though - go figure.

The only reason I didn't buy it was that it was a fraction small - it was a 56 I needed a 58 - they seem to come up a little on the small side to me. If it weren't for that, I would have snapped it up. And it was in the r/w/b finish, which was just superb.

On the price front - serch around for new ones - they are being heavily discounted at the moment - don't pay over the odds for a used.
