|Specialized chainrings - I must be missing something ...||outofthesaddle|

|I was trying to remove the chainrings on my '98 Stumpjumper Pro which has Specialized house crankset. The 5th bolt on the chainring is covered by the crankarm on the outside and so the hex bolt head is reversed from the normal position and is instead on the "back" side. All this is ok but one of the teeth on the small ring blocks access to the bolt head. Am I missing something? Do the cranks need to be pulled to remove the rings on this set up?

|I have a similar crank on my specialized road bike. I had to pull it and remove the small chainring first.|
|Thanks. I was afraid of that. (nm)||outofthesaddle|
