Does anybody have experience using the Rollamajig made by Avid? Pluses - Minuses? How does it help/work, does it help?

Ran it on my road bike for a while, but found that the little bit of extra slop that it introduced into the shifting system was quite annoying. It really buys you nothing in terms of improved shifting that can't be accomplished with good routine maintenance and fresh cables and housing when required. Don't get me wrong - I'm a HUGE fan of most Avid products and run their brakes on my MTB. I finally yanked it and put it on a buddies MTB when it was needed to correct a lead problem.

mine didn't introduce any slop, but there was absolutely no performance benefit, either. they apparently work much better on 8-speed MTBs (according to a mechanic who rode an 8-speed MTB).

They really do improve shifting on 8spd MTB's but I can see that they'd be of limited or no value on road bikes.
Helped my MB, but it's a special case...cory

My wife got a bro deal on a Cannondale mountain bike (for me) a few years ago, only MB we could find that was big enough for me. It came with 8-sp Suntour Ergotech, and (though I had good luck with other Suntour stuff before they died) it never quite shifted right. Goretex cables and a Rollamajig helped a lot.
