and onto the bridge. on weekdays, you have to use the east side as the west is blocked off. couple that with a national holdiday and you have tons of pedestrians trying get in your way and give you a miserable time.

too tired to post anymore. anyway, i hope all of you east coasters are plenty jealous of weather out here. i'm definitely not taking it for granted. i feel like i've already saved 150 bucks by not having to buy a trainer.

Nice pics HGN. I was in San Fran just for one day a few weeks ago (business trip). (I'm from St. Louis and NO I wasn't there for the ball game, but we did go out to the beautiful ball park and watched batting practise from the right field knot-hole area). I've always wanted to see the Golden Gate Bridge, but it was fogged in the morning we walked out on it.

What a great place for cycling. Bikes everywhere! We drove up some of the hills the big boys raced. Jeez, I didn't know if the car would make it - I can't imagine racing up them. No wonder they were zig-zagging.

Anyway, nice trip report, but you don't have to rub it in to us wintering flatlanders!
Nice day by the Bay.... thanks for the tour nmrwbadley

Been three years already but I still remember every curve and bump of that ride. From SF, my favorite road ride was the Alpine loop (a bit longer) or mtb rides through the Headlands to Mt. Tam. Anyway, great pics, thanks!

The ride report brings it all back for me. Almost jealous.

I've relocated to New York City but still ride year-round. It was 70+ degrees in NYC yesterday and Sunday was an awesome fall day perfect for a long ride!

Thanks! A good job!
A nice day on the bike, thanks.Scot_Gore

I don't have your confidence. I take very few shots on the move. I keep picturing the camera skidding across the pavement or swinging on it's tether into my spokes.

Thanks for the report.

I remember a bunch of those areas from a trip I did with my wife a few years back. Too bad I wasn't riding my bike when I saw it.

I remember walking up a bunch of those hills though and can only imagine doing it on a bike.

Thanks for a great ride report.

Happy riding.
John
This is why visitors should take a bike to SFms

Great report. It brought back happy memories of a ride I did in July 2001 when I was in San Francisco on vacation with my family. My advice to anyone who is planning to visit SF, take your bike along. Even if you only can ride for one day, it is worth it.
I'd never ride if I lived there...biknben

I saw that first picture and hit the reply button to write my previous meesage. Didn't realize you were in SF until going back to look at the rest of the photos.

I've actually eaten at that B&Js. I honeymooned in CA in '98. You're bringing back memories.

we've actually gotten Ben & Jerry's to deliver ice-cream to our apartment in the past. after 8 years though, the novelty has worn off plenty.

it's a Univega Modo Volare with Columbus Thron and Campy. you don't see too many of them out there. i've seen a total of 1 in the last 6 months. most people say "Univega still make road bikes?" there are a few people on these boards that ride them though.
