The wife is on my back to get a saddle that is a little easier on the old berries and twig, what with trying to get pregnant and all...
Are all these cut out and split rail things the same?
I don't give a crap about weight and I don't want to break the bank.

Try staying off the bike for those few days of the month prior to and during your wife's ovulation. This should improve your sperm count. My three sons were all conceived when I was not cycling. The hype on saddles is about reducing the risk of impotency from what I have seen, not about sperm count.

Why would this improve sperm count? As you say, the recent press (over the last 10 years) has been about impotency.

Cycling in warm or hot weather increases the ambient temperature of the testicals. There is an established inverse correlation between ambient temperature and sperm count. I don't have any recent sources since it's been a while since we have had kids but you can probably confirm this with any fertility clinic or other sources. I'm not saying give up cycling, just plan for a few off days every 28 days until you conceive, especially in the summer.

his wife conceived AFTER he had been riding the saddle for at least a year. enough said. if you're not getting penile numbness, I'd wager whatever saddle (unless it's radioactive) you ride will not affect your chances of becoming a dad. tell the wife to stop worring.

I thought that cycling had more effect on the delivery than the production. My wife (a mid-wife) tells patients that the first thing to try is lots of sex.
Keep on the bike, stay healthy! F%ck alot helps too ;-) NMSpunout

If its cold where you live, you can use the cold weather as an excuse to ride. Sperm count goes up in the cold. Also, take vitamin E and drink some caffeine 30 minutes before you do the deed.
