| Ksyrium finish | bent_spoke Nov 11, 2002 6:48 AM | | I've had this pair of Ksyrium's for 2 years & they've been great. The other day while putting air in to them, I noticed a bubble of the rim near the valve, like a rust spot was developing.
Does any one know if this is what's going on? Any ideas on what to do to repair & possible prevent from happening again? Thanks in advance. |
| Is it possible that it's an air bubble . . . | Look381i Nov 11, 2002 11:05 AM | | under the decal? Or is it in a painted area? Ksyrium rims are not steel, so technically rust would not be the culprit, but it could be corrosion of the aluminum under the paint. I have a pair of year 2000 Ksyriums also. I'll look when I get home to see whether mine have any blemishes like that. |
| Like you mention, it's probably oxidation of the alum | bent_spoke Nov 12, 2002 5:52 AM | | It's under the paint. It's pretty odd cause I don't ride in the rain and I've only been caught out in 1 serious downpour. Also it's on the inner surface, so it's not a likely place to be scratched to let in moister. Knowing that their alum, I'll probably just sand & seal with something that's a close match. Thanks for your reply! |
