LBS charges $0.75 for 14gauge and $1.50 for DT 15/16. Seems like they should be cheaper. Online sources? Advice?

They're definitely cheaper. Most mail-order houses are around $10 for 20 14g spokes and nipples.
I'd recommend www.thorusa.com, as well. He sells Sapim, $4 for 20 14g spokes, $8 for 20 14/15, and $11.25 for the light 14/17's.
These don't include nipples, but they're not much at all, $1 for 20 brass, and $2.50 for silver alloy.
I've built wheels with the 14/17 laser spokes, and the 14/15 race, and both are equal to DT or Wheelsmith quality.
Thorsten is also easy to deal with, and chances are, the shipping will beat most mailorder houses, too.
