The Last Hurrah (perhaps) - A Ride ReportScot_Gore

Each time I've gotten on the bike the last half dozen times I've thought "This could be it for 2002". I felt that the strongest yet on today's ride. My wife got me a digital camera for my birthday last week (wish me a happy 43rd). This was it's first outing on the bike. Solo loop along the Minnesota river. Here's the route:

Nine Mile Creek slowly making it's way to the Minnesota River, just like me :)
Very nice ScottKristin

Your camera skills are improving with every ride. Pretty image.

The November sun in Minnesota is just too low in the sky. It can't get enough solar power to burn the morning fog away this time of year.

This bridge was built in 1890. We drove on it until about 1982. Thankfully now, walkers and bikers only.

Black Dog coal fired electrical plant. See the great big pile of coal on the left. Another sign of the coming change.

This is part of my daily route. I always enjoy this view of man made symmetry extending across this natural wetland. It's beautiful in it's own way.

It's nice to have this so close to my home. Just to the left of this sign is some of the best single track in the state AND it's right in town.

Scary, Scot. This is my home loop and stomping grounds. Surprised I haven't seen you out and about. Couldn't make it on the road yesterday since we had a family birthday thing in LeCentre and by the time we got back it was dark. Now it's sort of sprinkling and some friends want to do some mountain biking at the river bottom but another family type commitment for dinner occurs in an hour or so. Grr. Nice pics for sure.

Can you spot the two flashes of white in the distance? That's the Buck & Doe. Three blocks from here and I'm home.

Looks like you had a mild weekend, too. We hit 70f here in PA. Great ride this morning. Gotta get a digital cam-the leaves here are just fading from their peak colors. Still look great.

2 weeks ago WSpokes and I met up at Clear Creek State Park Near Corsica/Sigel and went for 60 to Ridgway and back. Cold but beautiful scenery. Took pix and have them on disc if I can ever figure out how to post them I will.

South-central Pa. I'm close to Pinchot state park and Ski Roundtop. Great country to ride!

Nice to see a ride report where the weather and trees look likemmquest
Nov 10, 2002 2:07 PM
they do in this one. I live in St. Paul and get sick of the "its a cool November day here in Texas...only 75° and sunny...and don't know how long I can keep riding this season but look at all the beautiful green trees" ride reports ;)

But seriously, a beautiful area. Just moved here last winter and haven't ridden down there yet, I'll definitely give it a try next summer.

Sorry to rub it in, but I was so pleased with this weekend's weather, I had to boast! Today's ride was warm enough to make us sweat, but not suffer from the heat at all. There were even comments in the group about "people up north on their rollers in basements..."

Don't worry, you'll get your sweet revenge in the summer when we're wilting in the humid upper 90's!

What mapping software did you use? My ride club is trying to upgrade our crappy maps.

Thank's I enjoyed that. Feels like the kind of rides I sometimes do. Winter is definitely further developed than in Toronto. I usually get rides in here and there right up until mid December. Hope you have some more good ones.
