My buddies have compared it to the classic "piece of straw through the telephone pole" thing.
I hit an allen wrench with my front tire, it bounced into just the right position, then impaled my rear tire and rim.

Anyone know how I can get ahold of MAtrix? Maybe I can snivel a new rim out of them....

Seen that happen before except the wheel was a Spinergy and it was a nail. As for Matrix, it is a Trek rim...an older one so there is not anything they can do for you. It was bad luck....

That my friend is a free work of art. Hang it on the shop wall in a shadow box with an engraved plaque explaining the circumstances.

Beauty so rare.

The physics of it all.

Lovely.

I ran over a single blue paper towel and it tore my derailer off. The other collateral damages were 3 frame bends and 1 nasty ding/gouged seatstay, 1 broken Ultegra brake caliper, 4 broken spokes, and 1 Conti GP tire. Your suffering was small...live with it and swear quietly each time you reach for an Allen wrench.
WOOHOO! Free Allen Wrench! (nm)dave_w
