Denver/wheatridge road rides/routes??Bicycle019

Hi all. I'm moving down to the Wheat Ridge/Englwood area (29th/Xavier) from Boulder and I'm wondering what are some of the more popular road routes in the area? I'd like something that eventualy took me to some climbs if possible and has the least amount of traffic. Anything with a bike lane would be great.
Thanks for the info!

I live a little south of there (Wads & Alameda), so I'm not sure what's immediately around there, but here's a couple of rides I do. If you don't have it already, get the DBTC's Denver map - it marks every bike path in the city.

Ride 1) 22 miles or so
-Alameda to Garrison (short time on Alameda w/ traffic)
-South on Garrison (bikelane)
-Right on Morrison Road (light traffic until Jewel, large shoulder from Jewel to Morrison)
-Right in Morrison on the road that goes towards I-70 (light traffic depending on time - climbs some)
-Right on the dinosaur ridge road (more climbs)
-Left on Alameda (a little more climb - then high-speed down in the 2 lane road) back to Wads

Ride 2 - 46 or so miles
- To Morrison as described above, 11 mile climb to Evergreen. Return the same way as above, or just back on Morrison rd to Garrison.

Ride 3 - To Lookout Mtn summit and back
- Alameda to Garrison
- Right on Garrison (bike lane)
- Left on 13th Street bike path
- Left on Union
- Right on 8th
- Left on Indiana followed by immediate right on 7th Ave, cross Colfax
- Left on Old Golden Road into downtown Golden
- Left on 19th in Golden to climb Lookout Mtn
Return either the way you came, or down the backside of Lookout Mtn and you can make a right on the I-70 exit road down to the town of Morrison, and then over Dinosaur ridge.

Or, for a flatter ride, figure out a way to the Cherry Creek Bike Path which you can take all the way to the Cherry Creek Res, :)

I'm sure Wheat Ridge Cyclery ( has it. If you haven't been to that shop before, I found it to be the best shop in the area. They're just east of Wads on 38th.

If you want to hook up for a ride in the spring, drop me an email.
