Help: Saddle Slipping(3 posts)

Help: Saddle Slippingjromack
Oct 26, 2002 4:55 PM
I just installed my Selle saddle on a new Easton EC70 carbon seatpost.

The Easton instructions said to lightly grease the rails of the saddle. I figured the seatpost might have a squeaking problem, so I dabbed on a little grease.

I clamped the seatpost screw to spec, but the saddle would slowly slide back as I rode, so I disassembled it and cleaned off the grease. It still slides!

Any suggestions:

rought up the chrome plated rails?
a possible interface material?
weld the two together? (just kidding)

I once had a post on a mtb that slipped no matter what I tried. Finally got it to stop by wrapping the rails w/ a bit of rubber from an old inner tube. Not exactly the most aesthetically pleasing solution, but it worked!

install it as per their instructions, then about ten to fifteen minutes into the next ride get off and retighten the bolt. Sometimes the bolt needs a retorqueing to set the seat clamp right.
