Friday Poll: What have you asked for for Xmas?(20 posts)

Friday Poll: What have you asked for for Xmas?lonefrontranger

In light of the "most overpriced" thread below I thought it was somehow germane, yet ironic to post this topic :)

I recently discovered there's a better than 50% chance Santa will put a new Record grouppo under the tree for the Dream semi-custom frameset I have on order (brag brag, strut strut). Sure it's not a Merak with Record 10, but we peasants must make do with our lot in life ;-)

As a corollary poll question, what will you budget in your gift allowance to buy yourself? After all, isn't that what the whole great Christmas potlatch is all about - shopping for something you'd really like? My planned "gift to self" is a pair of Sidi Energys.

The frame is a replacement for a too-large one the distributor shipped by mistake, so it doesn't actually count (meaning it was already paid for).

I have not really started thinking about it yet. I guess it's time to start, as my wife has given me a list of jewelery that she wants.

Well I just bought a new Volvo wagon so I ordered a new Thule roof rake yesturday, that's my birthday present (Dec. 23rd) as for Christmas presents..........hummmmmmmmmm........a new TV and DVD player to watch my videos and DVD on the trainer. Some more winter riding gear. I would like a new carbon bar for my roadbike and a black Santa Cruz Blur mtb. frame. Anyone want to trade a Blur and a Fox fork for a Bullit and a Jr. T?

I'm buying Sherpa's SRM this weekend...but I probably won't have it all figured out until Xmas anyway.

Speaking of this weekend I'll be at booth P289. I believe you'll be at the Boulder Offroad Alliance booth?

Any chance you'll come out to the Boulder CX on Sunday, at least to spectate?

I am volunteering for BOA, but I'll be moving around a lot, not necessarily at their booth. I'll leave my mobile# with them in case anyone needs to get in touch.

I have a security shift from 3-5 on Saturday, meaning I'll be at one of the doors making sure there are no unauthorized exits.

My wife and I bought ourselves a couple of old school cruiser-style bikes (a Dyno Deuce for me and a Electra Rosie for her) and decided that those would be our presents to each other this year. We got some decent deals since the 2003 inventory is coming in soon and boy are they fun to ride around town. Makes you feel like you're 12 years old again.

You mean besides the size 4 womens cycling shorts hung by the chimney with care? It was a Calfee.
I must have been a good boy this year because the present came early.

The way I see it if I ask for 500 dollars in bike stuff I must spend 1000 bucks on jewelry or clothing for my wife to get my wish. This is the most overpriced thing in cycling. So I will just enjoy the peace that the season brings and the joyous event that we celebrate.

PS if they sold high end bikes at Target or Hechts I would be lavished with gifts bought simply because they were marked down. My wife tried to buy an escalator for me one year.

After being knocked off this week by a car - I want the brightest lights I/we afford!!
Dan
BTW I did have my lights on the bike, but I guess they are just not good enough
Maybe your current lights were too bright.ms

Maybe the car was aiming for you. Just kidding. I am with you, get the brightest you can afford. Notwithstanding some critical posts on this board, I like my Nightrider Blowtorch.

Realistically I should get more clothes.
I've got 5 jerseys (one badly worn) and two (!) pairs
of shorts, one baggie, one standard issue black cyclist
type that also need replacing.

I need more jerseys, more shorts, long tights for
fall/winter riding insulation, jackets, balaclavas,
polarfleece items, head protectants for the winter
winds, everything. And lights.

Crap, just give me a gift cert for $1k to the LBS and
I'll be all set up. For now.
