The person that showed me what being a true cyclist is all about died the other day. Chris Hinds took me under his wing when I started my first bike shop job several years ago and showed me how to do it right. He was a daily commuter, road racer, mountain biker, wheelie rider, husband, and most recently father. :(

It looks like he was pretty young, my guess is early 40's. Do you know what type of cancer he had? If you've ever considered doing the Ride for the Roses down in Austin, it's a nice tribute to ride in someone's memory and raise money for cancer research in the process. The ride will be in October in 2003. If you join the Peloton Project (http://www.laf.org) there are additional benefits for raising funds including subsidized travel.

I never knew Mr. Hinds but I'm truly saddened. May he find peace and walk with God.
