Who can re-paint a trek OCLV?pp_mcgee

I have a 99' Trek OCLV that has some scratches and needs repainting. Trek can do it, but charges 5-600 dollars. Trek actually referred me to Joe Bell painting, saying that he can do as good a job for cheaper (350). But he has a 2-3 month wait for painting. So.... Who else can paint OCLV frames? I just want a single color, no stickers, simple paint job. But I want it to be good quality and no harm to frame at all. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Or any paint shop that has done specialty work and knows how to do CF. Just had my steel redone but powder coated and then wet paint accent colors, around $300. Lots of places on line that do painting of bikes, I had mine done locally.

Have you considered buying the touch-up paint from your Trek dealer and just fixing the scratches? It sounds like by the time you take the frame down, ship it, paint, ship back, and build you're looking at at least 500 - 700 dollars. You can buy new OCLVS from the classifieds, usually in the 750-1000 range, so it doesn't seem worth it to me, just a thought...

I had my Y-Foil painted by koolbikes.com and was very satisfied. Their phone number is on the web page. Talk to Mary.
dumb question concerning repainting . . .Andy

If you have your frame repainted do they remove the old paint first or just paint over it? It seems like the frame would get heavier each time it was painted... not that anyone would repaint each year. I wonder how much weight an additional layer of paint adds?
