Anyone using the Ritchey road bar?(9 posts)

Anyone using the Ritchey road bar?JohnIV

I was wondering about the anatomic WCS bar. Does it have the same anatomic bend as the Biomax? Good bar? Say as compared to the Deda 215 anatomic? Cause I found the WCS bar for $18, and the biomax for $25. Both good deals, especially if this is a sweet bar. What do you think?
Ritchey has been an enduring brand and you'd thinkelviento

their quality is at least acceptable. But personally the shape of their bend is the ugliest in cycling history. And it may be hard to reach the brakes from the drops, if you have small hands. Compared to Deda 215? I don't think they are on the same level.

But hey, it's only 18 bux.

I never thought a handlebar could make much difference, but my Ritchey WCS is the most comfortable bar I have ever used. I wanted something with a relatively short drop and reach, and it fits the bill. I use Campy shifters, and the WCS bar makes it is very easy to reach the thumb button, even while riding in the drops. If you don't want the WCS bar, let me know and I'll buy it (if it's a 44). I am not sure about the Biomax bar, but I think it has a similar shape but perhaps difference drop and/or reach.
The BioMax bar has a slight sweepback on the tops...gogene

Ditto w/ Campy shifters. I like my wcs bars - but then I'm not very particular, either.

Ritchey gives the diameter of the middle part as 25.8-26mm. So does that mean it will fit into a 25.8mm stem without problems or not?
Yes, fits with no problem.... (nm)gogene

Had the WCS on my cross bike but switched to the bio-max for a shorter reach (small hands). Didn't seem to help with the reach problem, but I like the multiple positions it provides, especially the bump in the curve of the drops. The hoods sit very high, almost like bar ends on Mtn bikes. The flares are nice for leveraging up the front end over logs (don't think you'll need that!)

With that said, my favorite bar is the ten year old cinelli on my road bike- narrow, short reach and shallow drops.
Where did you find this deal? nmE-ticket
