I am pissed.... they put the clamp in the middle of the seattube.what should i expect in return? fair market value of my frame? new frame of my choice? any thoughts,i am very upset...... frame is(was) Moser leader TK1 in mint shape....
New frame, of negotiated quality,TJeanloz

There is no question that the shop should give you a new frame. It should be commensurate with the frame they broke - in terms of material, quality, and replacecment cost. So, no, it shouldn't be the frame of your choice (i.e. "I'd like a Merlin Cielo, please"); but they should make it right with you, and get you a similar caliber frame.
Sound about right to me....any addtl info on LBS? [nm]wheel_mag

since i am on fairly good terms with them still, i don't want to badmouth them publicly. but they are in CT.
I would ask for cash/discount/new frame worth the actual valueelviento

of the frame (discounted due to use), but arguably you could ask for replacement value.

If it's your beater, just keep using it and get some cash. The seattube doesn't take much stress anyway.
If they BROKE my MERAk, I get a new MERAK!!!! (nm)onespeed

Onespeed, a question.....PaulCL

Do you own a Merak or do you simply lust after one?

Or more specifically (if I remember) a Merak with Campy Record 10 speed with those Suh-Weet carbon levers....
I have three, 2 with Record 10 and a 2002 frame to be built. nmonespeed

So you have a couple "spares"PaulCL

If I wasn't over the 175lb weight limit, I would kid you about giving me one of your spares. Beautiful ride. My Colnago is equipped with record 10...love those carbon levers!
how do i find a value for the frame?(nm)trj

Why are you working on "valuing" it with them.onespeed

If they broke it, they bought it. I dont think there is anything to even discuss here.

Unless you wanted to get a different frame. Then tell them replacement value, not used value.

They have to honor this.

i am thinking about a different frame.they tell me they can replace the frame for much less than retail.they will only apply that much towards a new frame.i was told i can sell it for more than they can replace it.

How the LBS handles this is very importantPODIUMBOUNDdotCA

If they give you a hard time at all take whatever they will give you (as long as its fair) and never go back. If they are very sympathetic and don't argue with you at all then thats great. People make mistakes and as stupid a mistake is as to clamp a seat tube is shit happens. You deserve a frame comparable to the one you had. Perhaps ask for something else in return for your hassle such as free service for a given period of time as well.

Good luck!
