Which rollers to buy: Kreitler or Tacx?(8 posts)

Which rollers to buy: Kreitler or Tacx?cw05

I have been looking at these for awhile now, even borrowed a friend's Kreitler's to see if I wanted to invest in a set of rollers. They seemed like a much better training tool that a stationary trainer. My question is, are Kreitler's worth the money? or is another brand like Tacx just as good for someone looking for some supplemental training for the winter? Thanks to anyone who have experience with either of these brands.

Ive never used the kreitlers but they look bomb proof. I do have the Tacx rollers, the ones with 4 1/2" drums. 3 years and no problems. last week I added the mag resistance unit and am very happy with it as well.

I have the kreitlers and love them. I bought the smaller drums which kind of make me wish I purchased the larger drum version as I am a track sprinter so the higher cadences I may be able to hit could be better but oh well!

Only one year, no problems. I have the folding ones, no mag unit yet. The Kreitlers might be nicer (I haven't seen them) but I really don't need anything better. They're not that noisy, especially if you put a towel underneath the frame. Use the slickest tires you can find and pump them up to maximum pressure. I do have to turn up the volume of my stereo about two notches but that's about the extent of it. No complaints from the neighbours.

Minoura makes a pretty good set of rollers. I've used mine off-on for over 20 years........... YES, I did say 20 years. I've got hundreds of hours on em and they still work like new.

My brother bought a set recently and they were under $200. A great deal, IMHO.
