YES! You're crazy. It hurts like a mutha f*****! I tried the "sugar" wax stuff you put in the microwave and then apply, put the cloth strip on, etc. Wife said it was just like the stuff the salons use. Needless to say... it HURT. Left little wounds that oozed blood were there were hairs. I toughed it out and dealt with the pain and red, irrated skin, thinking it would be worth it if I didn't have to shave for 6-8 weeks. I had to shave in 3 weeks, really sucked. YMMV.

If you don't mind some pain, it might be ok for you.

On the topic of hair removal, I tried using Nair recently, with mixed results. For one, it didn't yield results that were any better than shaving, and two, my skin didn't like it too much. I will try the wax next. I don't mind a little pain, as long as there isn't any bleeding or prolonged irritation. The Nair didn't keep the hair away any longer than shaving, so if waxing can last three weeks, and hopefully over time thin out the hair, I'll do it!

I used to wax because I got tired of shaving twice a week. When you first start it hurts like heck but after a few sessions you get used to it and it's not bad. I stopped last year because you have to wait for your hair to get to a certian length before you can wax again. Winter is a good time to do this because it doesn't matter if you get a little hair on you between waxes.

The best thing I've found are those pre-waxed mylar strips that you peel apart. I've tried everything and the brand I like best is "Parissa." It comes in a grey box and there's a picture of a lady wearing a black baithing suit. It's always embarassing to go to the checkout stand with three or four boxes of these. I just say it's for my girlfriend.

I have fast growing hair and I can go four or five weeks between waxes. I think I'll start waxing again since winter is here.

BTW... once when I had too much time on my hands I thought it would be interesting to try waxing my chest. If you want to experience devistating pain this is the thing to do. Makes waxing you legs seem like a stroll through the park.

I can't imagine doing it to myself as that is too much but if you go to a pro, they are fast and good at it and they have no mercy. It comes off quick and when I had it done they used to rub my legs with some Aloe Vera gel stuff afterwards and it feels great. If you don't want legs full of ingrown hairs and lumps for weeks after I'd say use a pro. It's worth the $50.
