With winter around the corner, and mother nature already flirting with father snow, I'm looking for new toys for the winter months.

Has anyone tried the Tacx i-Magic? What about the computrainer? Does anyone have any feedback they can give me on either? I got a killer quote on the Tacx and am seriously thinking about ordering one, but my problem is I live in an apartment and I'm worried that riding the trainer late at night or early in the morn might anoy some neighbours.

I've only ever used rollers, never a mag trainer, so my first question is how loud is this trainer? Is it too loud for an apartment?

My second question is, what feedback can you give me on the overall performance of this setup? Software, as well as the conection between the trainer and computer.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I've never used the trainers you mentioned but I can tell you that riding a trainer in an apartment can be very annoying to your neighbors. Ten years ago I split a two story townhouse/apartment with my college buddy. He rode his trainer early in the morning upstairs and it drove me up the wall. It woke me up every morning and the neighbors complained a few times. It just depends on the construction of your building. It probably won't be a problem if you are on the ground floor. If you are on an upper floor it could be a problem. My friend was using a turbo wind resistance trainer which was placed on a 4' x 8' sheet of plywood (the floor was carpeted).
