I have a Specialized Allez that is about 2 years old. I am wondering if I can turn it into a cyclocross bike. Any thoughts?

you should go to the cyclocross portion of this newsgroup and do a search. It's been covered there multiple times. In short, yes it's possible with some compromises.

you wont be able to fit any cx tyres in the fork or in the brakes. sure u can get a fork with canti mounts, but the rear brake is the prob.

my frame barely fits 28s (thats with no knobs!). a 28mm cx tyre is super narrow and would be pretty damn sketchy.

plus the clearance is so little betweem the tyre and the brake, it will cake with crap very fast.
