|I am considering purchase of a Merckx titanium bike and wanted to solicit opinions of them first. I can get a Majestic w/fork for $1300 or a Millenium w/o/ fork for $1400. What do you think of Merckx tinanium (know it's welded by Litespeed)? Are they stiff enough to race on? What about ride quality? Any thoughts on the Majestic v. Millenium? The 6/4 rolled downtube on the Millenium worries me a bit. Thoughts? Thanks very much. -DB|

|coloradocyclist has the millenium with fork, ouzo comp for about 1400 i think. i am not heavy (145) and have the millenium, lets see, buttery and stiff, i know they don't always go together except when frozen but that sums it up. its not as light as carpet fiber but so far i can't complain. i think with ultegra it is arond 18 and a half. but there it has petential to be lower if you felt the need.
i have not ridden the majestic but i hear it is a bit softer than the millenium and a bit flexier but that is jsut hearsay. hope that helps.

|I weigh about the same as madwiscbiker, but have the Majestic. It's plenty stiff enough for me, while still maintaining a smooth ride. I suppose if you're really concerned about stiffness, you'd want to go with the Millenium, especially if you need a large frame. I think either bike would be suitable for racing (hey, it's a Merckx!).
If you do a search on "Merckx Majestic" on this messsage board, you might find some other helpful posts.

|I'm 6'3", 195lbs and ride a Ti AX which is the precursor to the Majestic. Not an avid racer, but have done my share of crits and feel that it is plenty stiff in the sprints as well as on the hills.
My previous bike, a steel Lemond (Alpe de Huez) flexed enough in the BB to cause my front deraileur to rub whenever I hit the hills hard. Never a problem with my 60 cm Merckx.
