Contemplating the BIG CHILLTREKY

I'm sitting here and thinking about the morning ride. The expected temp. at the beginning of the ride is 28.I've ridden in those temps before but not since early this year.I want to go but still feel some apprehension.Anybody else living in the North ride this low yet?Did you have the same doubts?
Have no fear--Tom's been off his game latelyKristin

I don't know what's going on with him, but I hope he recovers soon. All us weather freak's love Tom and hate to see him in a slump. Both Intellicast and TWC say 37-38 for tonight. So enjoy the extra 10 degrees and skimp on the outterwear. ;-)

I was bummed this morning. I went for a ride--the first one in a while--and got a head ache by mile 5. Had to turn around to get my ear band. My neighborhood is sketchy for riding in. There are gang symbols painted all over the bike path. Will have to drive to future rides and carry mace.

Yesterday about 11 miles into a 23-24 mile ride with two
other friends it got bone chillingly cold in one section.

It had been in the high fifties before that and then this
big bank of clouds moves in and the temperature drops 15
degrees and we weren't really dressed for it.

It wouldn't be so bad if it hadn't been so windy - it was

We eventually got out of it and kept riding but I'm a bit
sore today. My wife was talking about a ride though so...
I guess we ride a bit later.
I love this first nasty cold front.Alex-in-Evanston

Slap on the tights and all the other warm weather goodies. Feel like a hardcore stud for riding in the cold. Yeah October's great.

February on the other hand...

Oh well, anything beats the trainer.

And down south here it's a balmy 60 deg this afternoon, guess I'll get out and ride this afternoon, not gonna be many more opportunities for a fair weather biker like myself.
