Last week-end I am out riding w/some friends and this bozo nearly cuts me off at a round-a-bout. No warning. Pedal to the metal like he is late for something. I turn around and see that he is not alone! Abunch of his obnoxious friends are racing him to beat him out of the round-a-bout -- and not just cars -- afew buses too!

So I do what any well-prepared cyclist would do -- I motorpace behind the offender, whip out my camera (I "always" ride with a camera!) and grab the a$$'s pictures to serve as evidence.

Here they are -- do you think I have a case?

then the jokers slowed down...

Turns out their in a hurry for some sort of freddish century. Jeez, will you look at the bikes they're riding. This fork has obviously been crushed in some freak garage-door accident -- and yet they are still riding it!!

And the riders -- don't even get me started! Look at this poseur in full Postal kit ... puhlease!

Oh, and this one -- good thing this rider is protecting his stem!! Wear that helmet or don't ride buddy!!!

Another helmetless wonder! Get a grip!

I must admit, this guy impressed me -- he did not fall one single time at the ride. Not once! Simply amazing!

Fredly fashion hell ... the horror, oh the horror!!

Finally, a rider with some sense! Too bad he's only twelve..

You saw it here first!! Hmmm, these guys must of spent at least 10 minutes engaged in a serious conversation accompanied by much counting on the fingers and concluding with smiles all around and a firm handshake. I wonder what is up with that???

And finally -- what's up his a$$? Maybe he's just got a bad feeling about this ride -- I heard he ended up in the hospital w/ a broken clavicle and some back trauma -- they treat that with EPO, right??

All submitted in good fun -- now to clean off the bike for tomorrow's ride!

VDB's got the "Roid Rage". Too many late nights in the gym with the bodybuilders and not enough time on the bike. Oh yeah this was the one and only race he was at all year; My bad!. Good thing it wasn't held on Main St. in some Flandrian town, b/c that's the only place that he's not allowed to race. His suspension was a real joke!

Bartoli 1, VDB 0, Riis out shopping?!philippe crist

I am the first person to give someone the benefit of the doubt but I have got to say that VDB did hmself no favours last wek-end. Almost all the other riders were accessible and friendly. The race start was a bit packed so many of the riders were stopped right out in w/ the crowd. Some really nice guys... and it was funny to hear what they were talking about. Iban Mayo was discussing his vacation plans w/ some Banesto rider (Morocco, Greece or Malta!). It was a really nice atmosphere and much more sane than the TDF stage starts. And yet VDB scowled the whole time. He was having a bad day, I guess.

Anyway, I am still intrigued at the conversation I witnessed between Bartoli and Riis. Will he be racing under CSC next year? Bartoli was really nice -- contrary to his reputation as an ego-maniac "I have never lost a race due to my own fault..." . When he and Riis finished talking, I called him over to take a picture w/him and the wife of a friend who had been going on and on about how good he looked. He came over and was super nice. Bartoli 1 point, VDB 0.

Photo: "So, I'll sign for two years on the condition I get Jan as my domestique for all of the classics...I can be happy with that"

Having seen these guys almost made me forget about the headwind on the way back home.

Thanks, great photo essay to wrap up this wacky Friday.No_sprint

ROFL! Oscar would have a hard time getting into a club here in the States without a couple of IDs.

Thanks - this was great!
