Speedplay zero pedals are a dream..(10 posts)

Speedplay zero pedals are a dream..ol
Oct 4, 2002 10:44 PM
Just retired my fifth pair of look pedals for a new set speedplay zeros and after having done some miles on them I have to say that they are far superior. The first thing you notice is how close the axle is to the foot, you just feel that your whole pedaling technique is more fluid and correct. Adjustment of heel play left or right is a super feature, you can really dial in precise movement of the heel, knee problems be gone. This pedal is ideal for crit. junkies, diving into a corner at 50k an hour and pedaling through it leaves no doubt in your mind about striking the pedal into the ground. This product is definately a must have, I am fully converted.

No adjustment but hardly any necessary for me. Less weight and cheaper if you can live without it.
Clearance is sweet, isn't it...biknben

I've never clipped a Speedplay pedal around a corner. I always smile when exiting a turn and noticing I've gained a length or moved up a spot without even trying.

I used look pedals for 10 years and am much happier with the SPs.
unfortunately, the pedal-crank clearance on X1s is not...weiwentg

at least, not to me. tried a pair - were I wearing booties I'd have rubbed the logo off very fast. that is the only downside I've found so far.
longer spindles are availible...blehargh

in any cases, X2s suit my purposes perfectly.

of course $$$$ but X1's aren't cheap to begin with. but it would keep your logo's from rubbing away. :0

X2 are plenty fine for me 2.

The standard X1 spindles are shorter due to the lower strength of the Ti spindle in comparison to the stainless steel ones. The longer Ti spindles probably have some extra reinforcement or a have lower rider weight limit. In the first instance this probably would negate any weight savings over the X2 pedals.
shorter spindle is one of the things I like about X1...(nm)Raf1

Try putting a clear protective tape on the crank arms. Then remove it in the spring when it warms up.Works for me.
