Is that a Shimano or Campagnolo JATO?

From the website:

"our engineers decided to mount the Gluhareff G8-2-20 Pressure Jet on a 1990 Cannondale SM-500 Mountain Bike. This worked out quite well. The top speed was approximately 28 miles per hour on level ground (without pedal assist)."

Forgive the noob question, but wouldn't a mtb be more unstable at high speeds than a road bike? Like 40 - 50mph, or however fast he'll get with that rocket motor?

I've gone 45 mph on my mountain bike downhill and
stability was just fine.

My question is: 28 mph? I can sprint that fast road
or mountain so why bother with the jet hardware?

You figure he'd try to go really fast with that.
Yeah, maybe he was afraid of getting launchedfbg111
