Unbranded frames(4 posts)

I'm considering putting together a cheapo bike for a winter project, and I stumbled upon an Advanced Composites frameset that allegedly is the same frame as the old Look 286 or an ICE- it is dirt cheap as a new frame. It contains no decals... the frameset is so cheap, in fact, that it cost less than my current fork. With a frameset this cheap, I'm really not worried about warranty issues, and frankly, I wouldn't even care if it is not cosmetically perfect.

What is the general consensus about buying an unbranded frame? I'm always curious about why they are even made (you know the drill... slap on the Look decals and the price triples). Who generally purchases these frames? How do they make it into the retail market? Anyone have an experiences with this?

Where did you find the frame so cheap? I'd be interested as well. Thanks.
