It's the price. $5,000 gets you one of the finest bikes in the world. The same amount of money gets you only a used and beaten small car here in Japan. To match the quality of a $5,000 bike to that of a car, you would probably have to spend twenty times more of that, and it is certainly not enough if you lust for those exotic Italian sports cars. Although $5,000 is not a small amount of money, you could somehow spare it if you have a decent job and cut corners here and there. This mounts to say that prices of bikes are set to squeeze most out of us. But so is everything else in this capitalist world.

I inadvertently come to own two Pinarello's, Prince and Opera, this year. I could have returened Prince, but I didn't. Each bike is great to ride on and so beautiful to look at. Prince gives you smooth and fast ride while Opera gives you lively and fun ride. Of course, having just one of them would do for my purpose. (I've just fninished 420k tour on them.)

I am thinking of doing triathlon mainly because I always wanted to do it, and I met wonderful tri-athletes who strongly encouraged me. At the same time, I have this desire somewhere in the back of my mind to justify myself to buy a TT bike :-) such as Cervelo P3. (Hey, it's cheaper than my Record equiped Prince or Opera!)

Am I crazy? My girlfriend thinks so.
