"Which Bike" Question(5 posts)

After testing out many bikes and narrowing down the search with some help from the forum, I think I have it down to two. For those pure road riders out there, don't cringe because my choices are not pure road bikes. I've read the many good reasons why drop bars are better than flat bars, but as everyone says you have to ride what you're comfortable on. So here they are:

Cannondale Road Warrior 900

www.cannondale.com/bikes/03/cusa/model-3HR9Y.html

Devinci Santiago

www.devinci.com/eng/famille/hybperf/santiago.htm#tuyau4

I've ridden both models (the 02s although the 03s have changed little). They were pretty much dead even on on ride and price. It's almost a coin toss although I am leaning towards the Devinci. While both bikes "spoke" to me, I think the Devinci was talking a little louder. The biggest issue is the frame. The proven Caad 5 vs a relative unknown in Devinci. I've never read anything but good things about their products, but a 5 year warranty on a bike in that price range just makes me a bit uneasy.

Appreciate your collective thoughts and insights.
Ahem, you might want to try a Merak with Record 10. (nm)onespeed

What vintage are your Meraks? Are they all the new V107 type or are they the SC61.10 frame?
Please stop that. (nm)rtyszko

Take a good look at the component sets, the DeVinci might be better equipped. But, test ride them and look for the best fitting bike.
