I now live in an area where I need 1) a rain jacket/shell - gore tex or something similar for that rainy day with temp's 50 and below, and 2) something for cold, freezing and below air temperature, type situations without rain. T

I'm pretty familiar with some of the different types of rain protection/fabrics from the running days, just not cycling companies different factory miracle fabrics, espeically when looking for something cut for cycling.

Here are some jackets I've been considering for rainy situations, please comment:
- Pearl Izumi (PI) Flash Jacket - Zepherr 2 fabric
- PI - Kodiak barrier jacket - zepherr 2 as above
- Castelli Gore-Tex Jacket - pretty much looks like a gore shell
- Assos clima Micro Jacket - ???

These are the main "rain" jackets I noticed in CC and Excel, cold weather is easier, I'm just looking at a shell and layering but am really interest in comments or suggestions regarding "rain" gear ??

The Assos Clima-micro is a light rain, wind breaker...don't get in a 'normal' rain....you'll get wet!..After spending years of layering w/everything from wind-fleece, Polartec 100, 200, etc., Gore-tex shells, I finally found the best ever, most comfortable, lightest weight, cold weather (above 25°):Assos Gator W/Assos Hydro II long sleeve undershirt. The beauty is that you can wear a std. coolmax undershirt (and not the HII) for days when it's in the mid 40°s and be comfortable. (Expensive, but what excellent product isn't?) Does PI still make the 'Activent' rain jacket (I have one); you might look at the Burley (good rep.)..what ever you get, make sure it has gooooooood 'pit zips'
