as its at a time period when i first started racing (no more - but i keep saying maybe next year) so all the bikes and kit is of course my favorite stuff as well as some of the riders being my inspiration.

mind you if i rode all them hills i would have seen more seat clusters, stays and rear cogs than finish lines. i would liken myself as a predecessor to Cippolini - without the talent but with a definate yen for all things showy, ridiciluously suave.

some of ken m. saito's are the best pics i have seen of racing shots. i wonder why he covered just the coors?

I also have a La Vie Clair jersey. I'd like to find a pair of shorts but I just can't bring myself to wear used shorts.
i hear ya ... im still waiting to mary a virgin. NmSpirito

oops that should read "marry"Spirito
Sep 25, 2002 9:13 AM
i dont want anyone to get all freudian on me by implying i see myself as J.C. with reference to Mary and virgin.

matter of fact - Brian the messiah will do nicely as long as im not affiliated with the People's Front of Judea - theyre quitters unlike the Judean People's Front.

Doesn't J.C. have more hair? Other than that......:-) nmDave Hickey

true ... very true.

i will argue that JC was a hipster and also has the very first known cultural depiction of a Mullet as painted by Michelangelo in the Cistine chapel (seen it myself).

my work (if you could call it that) has me partly involved with Fashion week here in NYC i see many splendid examples of mullets sported by men and women alike - tres hip but also in the image of JC.

i figure that were JC around he would have taken a different fashion direction and opted for a cleaner, bolder look not unlike Telly Savalas, Yul Brenner and yours truly. after all - chicks dig it !!!

sold real estate in Boulder, CO for many years after she quit racing (mid-to-late 80s). I can't recall her name right now, but her photo was in all the "Homes for sale" rags found at the local supermarkets for a long time.

Vintage velo is cool but I'm not keen on wearing wool and these look like poly. Anyone have an idea where to find Crest/Cannondale, Coors, etc., American retro cycling apparel?
Used on Ebay, but they usually cost big$$$$$ nmDave Hickey

Great Shots of Coors Classic 1985?char
Sep 25, 2002 7:28 PM
Spirito,

There was a yearly book that came out called World of Cycling, had pictures of all the races for the year with commentary interspersed on the side, these [photographs] look very familiar. All of mine got damaged due to flooding where they were stored (also the videos of the races I recorded off the local Denver TV station), so it was great to see those classic moments.

off-topic...
Your picture of the Eddy Campy hi-flange hub transfixed with the bridge behind is one hell of a classic shot. I mention this cause I ride a Molteni orange Eddy, I think around a 1984, bought it used, what a fantastic ride. It actually rides and feels better the faster you go.

Ride on Josephine, ride on
