So I thought i had built my dream bike. TCR0, full ultegra, vector pros, carbon bars and peds, slr saddle, whole nine. After a couple of months on it thought, I have realized it's not for me. I've been given the oppotunity to purchase a bike I have ridden and proven to be truly a dream bike at a price that is ridiculously low. My problem is this: The TCR has sentiments attaached. It was purchased post reading Lance's book while I laid in my recovery bed recovering from a bad accident 9 months earlier. My wife and dad each chipped in money tro help me "get back on the bike" after reading the bookwhile i fronted the MAJORITY of the cash.
Now, i am at a crosssroads. it doesn't work for me but it has so much attached and the deal i am being offered is too good to pass on. do i sell to buy or keep and buy? or do i pass the offer entirely? (if it helps, i have other bikes which doesn't make the keep/buy option any easier.

I'm sure mom and da would understand that a bike fancier is fickle about bikes at times.

They gave you some of the money to get you back on the bike. If they understand enough to do that they understand you getting a great deal on a dream bike that will help your riding even more.

The point of the gift was not the bike itself, it was to get you riding and to do something nice for you. If something else will work better, they'll understand.

...I hadn't thought of it that way. That makes sense. My guilt-ridden nature hadn't allowed me to view it that way. Thanks. Now I feel ok. It's really been wrenching me around. good to feel relief.

Buy each of them a nice gift from the proceeds!

transfer whatever components you prefer off the TCR, replace them with stuff from the new bike (I assume it's a whole bike) and sell the TCR. presumably you won't be losing much, right?
