Can anyone that has experience with these two frames give me some opinions on one vs. the other? I'm looking to purchase one or the other (most likely) and would like to hear what some of the differences and similarities are. Thanks!

I have no experience with K2's. I have seen a few and they look nice. However, given the success of the TCR's in the tour and in sales I am surprised you even ask. IMHO, I would have went with the Giant and never considered the K2. However, it's up to you.

Cyclingnews did a review on the '02 Mod 5:
http://www.cyclingnews.com/tech/2001/k2mod5test.shtml

all said and done, I'd get Giant because of the price. they do have an extra size. also, the TCR's top tube (at least in size S) run slightly long (535mm for the small TCR, 515 for the XS K2).

it seems, though, that K2 has gone to completely different tubing for it's road bikes this year: they're using Columbus Zonal and CF stays. I've never ridden COlumbus Airplane, but the TCRs are similar in claimed weight to a frame made of that tubing. I would probably get a TCR2 instead. however, the mod 3.0 has equivalent components and better wheels (Cosmics vs CXP21s with straight gauge spokes). on the other hand, the TCR has a severely aero fork and a carbon steerer. plus it comes with pedals.
Great deals on 2002 TCR's nowfbg111

I bought a TCR2 a few months ago and love it. First road bike though, so I have nothing to compare it to. But if you choose this bike you should be able to find leftover 2002 TCR2's on clearance sales now for around $1000-$1100. My lbs has one for $1100. 2003 TCR's are showing up in stores now, and have the same frame as the 2002 TCR Aero, but are going for ~$1400 compared to the standard price of $1300 for 2002 TCR2. Plenty of threads on this board about TCR's also.

The K2's look good too, from their website, http://www.k2bikes.com/. The Mod 5.0 is tricked out with carbon seat stays, carbon fork, carbon stem, and Dura-Ace. Both the K2's and the TCR's are compacts. Does K2 have a warranty?

Yes K2's have a warranty, I had a Mod 4.0 and a TCR 2...if you look online you can find some deals on the Mod's just like the TCR's...for me the Mod fit me a bit better...I didn't care for the Cosmic Elite's that came spec'd at the time (would have rather had Open Pro's,etc) it just comes down to whether or not the compact sizing works for you..
