If I join Team Performance (add the "item" to the shopping cart) and order other things simultaneously, do the things in the order accumulate performance points immediately or do I have to wait for the "membership package" to arrive before I start accumulating discounts?

I'm placing an order over $200 dollars, so it really doesn't make sense not to, but if I need to wait a week to do it, maybe I won't.

I have noticed a weird behavior of the price in my "cart" changing when logging on as a Team Performance member. The Team Performance price can be higher than the sale price and their software automatically adjusts the price in your cart to the higher price.

When you first connect, they don't know who you are. You "add to cart" a sale item. For example, the price is $49.95. You then log on as a Team Performance member to see what other deals there are. When you go to "checkout" the "Cart" Price has changed to $59.95 for the item picked anonymously.

Caveat Emptor (Buyer Beware) is the rule on the Internet.

"Skimming" is a marketing term used to describe Performance Bikes' policy: trying to get the highest price possible from one group while charging another group a lower price. Performance sometimes "skims" their Team Performance members. ("You can cheat all of the people some of the time" is another marketing term, from P.T. Barnum, the circus impresario).

Be sure to do a screen print of everything you buy with the price you think you are paying. Then compare that to your checkout price after you add the team performance item but before you press the final place order button.

I noticed the higher price scheme for sale items while logged on as team member as well. But this looks like a shopping cart bug (I have done lots of carts so I know about this type of problem) rather than something intentional.

I signed up at one of their stores in the DC area while visiting. However I live in CT & we don't have a store nearby. Initially, I figured that the membership could easily be used in either place, but this wasn't the case. Last year, I had to call alot to make sure things were straight, especially with the shipping upgrade. I noticed that the two day shipping rate was charged instead being a free upgrade, since they didn't always catch my membership info. Performance customer service always made adjustments, but it was a bit of a hassle to have to always watch & call.

Also, I felt that customer service was oblivious to my suggestions that there system needed some work. Obviously, this isn't there job, but you'd hope someone would be interested...maybe?!

Anyway the discounts add up & they have some members only special, which make it worthwhile.
