The retail sticker said $39.00. He has them on sale for $25.00. Are the Carbon Comps good? Never tried them, just curious. If it's a good deal, I'll get them. Thanks.

Spend $10 more and get the Michelin Pro Race from or Critusa... those retail for $55 and have a better reputation. Or, you can find Vittoria Corsa CX on ebay for $59 a pair, less shipping. Just my two cents... the reviews on Carbon Comps are mixed, so I left them off my bike when they came stock.

Just my opinion of course. I wore out two of them in less than 500 miles total - right through the rubber, exposed casing and all. The second one was riding to a casual Saturday morning ride only to find a TEN INCH LONG cut with exposed threads right on the tire's center line. There were a few 35mph downhills getting to that ride and I'm lucky it didn't blow.

These tires seem to wear fast and picked up road cuts easily.
I had one that was a disaster, low miles, big cut, but I've hadbill

good experience with the tire I got to replace it. Actually, the remaining tires have quite a few miles on them with very little signs of wear or cuts, certainly better than Vittoria (although Vittorias feel great; probably better). I think that they're nice tires -- ride real nice. I have the gold, btw, which are a little heavier than the Carbon Comp black and presumably a little sturdier.
Hey, several teams rode these in Paris-Roubaix.

I'll reply with my experience to muddy the waters. They served me well! Rear lasted about 2300 miles(I'm 170)and front is still going at 2500 miles or so. One oddity on my last ride the front bead popped out and of course the tube blew...after 2000+ miles with no problems whatsoever, wierd. Do kevlar beads stretch or "relax" over time?

What kind of pressure are you running in your Carbon Comp's?

As to the original question: My 2001 TCR Zero came with them. I never had a single problem with the original set and when it came time to replace them, I jumped on a deal from at $15.50ea. In hindsight, I should have bought more than just 6, but I believe they still have them in gold for $19 or so. So, overall they seem to be a good tire especially at the price I paid.
