I saw the post from the rider with 1500 who was asking about used bikes. I am more interested in knowing about rec's for new road bikes. I used to ride a lot a long time ago (until my Cannondale was stolen in NYC in '86 and I lost interest in cycling after that). I purchased a Trek 7300 3 months ago to see if I was still interested and I have been having a blast. I now want to buy a road bike for longer (and perhaps faster) rides, but I am a recreational rider for the foreseeable future. I have read the reviews, or as many as I can, and they leave you wondering b/c there are so many great/good bikes out there. What would you (the roadbikereview community) recommend in terms of carbon for the value. I am willing to spend money but I don't want to go overboard, and I will take recommendations about other materials too. Thanks
This will be my next frame....tamjam

It's all about steel frames for me, both road and mountain. Road frames at Vanilla start at $1,000. Will ya look at those lugs and dropouts!!
