Just wanted to pass this along read this in the new Bicycle Retailer Magazine I got in the mail today.
Cannoondale is recalling about 1300 3T zepp XL stems the stems have 3T zepp XL printed in white on both sides. Cannondale put the stems on 2002 and 2003 model-year R3000, 2002 model-year R4000, R5000 Black lightning and chain gang bikes, as well as the 2003 T6000 Saceco Team Replica bike. Dealers sold the stems March 2001- july 2002. Cannondale is advising owners to stop riding the bikes. You can contact Cannondale at (800) 245-3872
Just wanted to pass this on in case somebody falls into this group and was unaware of the recall.

I think the recall was due to the fact that people started stripping their threads as the threads weren't deep enough. a friend did that to an ordinary Zepp.

The recall was issued two months ago. It consist of simply replacing the cap bolts with longer ones. There's nothing wrong with the stem itself.

Replacement bolts are stainless steel! The original bolts from Zepp are titanium.
This is not a weight issue but a principle issue. You pay for titanium and now they want to give you a water bottle bolt in return!!
