If I'm not mistaken those are Diadora shoes. Not sure whether you can actually get them in the team Saeco colors though.

Di Luca routinely wears Diadoras and those are the markings of a Diadora. He does commercials for them in Bici Sport. He may have a special Saeco color pair. But, i have seen the pros wear slip covers that are marked like the outside appearance of the shoe. If you look at the red of the shoe it goes high up the front of his foot, which makes me think these are shoe covers. It appears he has white socks on that are short looking in the front because of the covers.

how can you explain the straps though? Shoe covers usually cover those as well...

Sure, but the covers usually have straps painted on in the approriate locations. I saw these kind of covers when i was in italy and you can see them in the italian magazine BICI SPORT.

Look at his right foot. If his shoes are red and it is not a cover, then why does his right shoe tongue extend up to his lower shin and his sock look so short.

I went back to stage two photos and they do look like red shoes without cover, but in that photo from stage 11 they look like covers. I will try to catch stage 11 again tonight.

Ok, these are the beautiful 2003 Diadora "veloce" A beautiful work of art indeed. Carbon sole, triple strap. I believe retail for these pups will be around $235-$250. I hear catalog pics will be avilable around Oct (early-mid) and shoe avail. around Nov. But as you all know with bike companies, release dates are always kinda sketch. I have been trying to find a pair of good red shoes for the last 2 months so I have extensive homework on these babies. Cheers!
Have you looked at the red Sidis?Look381i

I've had a pair of red Sidi Genius 3 road shoes for a couple of years. Still going strong after 8K miles. I got them at Texas Cyclesport. I noticed recently that they were still selling them. They claimed to be the only American source for the red shoes.

A big fat Cuban to the man who said Lycra shoe covers. If you can tell the shoes underneath, you are a better man than I am Gunga Din

To put it to rest already!!!!!!!!! The pic obviously shows the seams that would be far too difficult to replicate on a sheet of lycra to go over the shoe. Plus I have seen pics of this pic before. Gita bike had them a few months back under their "new products" section.
try this pic insteadkushogun
