GT ZR 2.0 or Cannondale CAAD 5?Jackie Chan

I am in great dillema here. To choose GT ZR 2.0 or C'dale CAAD 5? Both ultegra, both the same price (about $1350 at GVH and one other site), both brand new. I rode C'dale CAAD 3 and now I have '99 Lemond Zurich. Lemond is comfortable for long rides and everything but I really miss that instant acceleration and speed as I had with my old C'dale. Plus I bought Zurich used and I want to once have a new bike. I ride about 40 miles a day with occasional longer rides, but become really interested in sprinting.
So please tell me your opinions: GT or C'dale?

thanks
Jackie

My wife rides a CAAD5 and I ride a CAAD6 & 7, both of these are light and fast. They have ridden in double Century"s.
I would recommend!

I looked at both of these bikes and opted for the CAAD5 - lighter, higher-grade aluminum, better fork, and most importantly, Cannondale is still in business - if the frame were to fail due to manufacturer's defect, Cannondale replaces it whereas GT no longer makes road bikes since its owned by Pacific and you may be s.o.l. Also, if I need a new derailleur hanger I can get it from Cannondale - good luck dealing with Pacific bikes to get a hanger for the GT. Really, though, if you wanted a true apples to apples comparison, the GT ZR 1.0 is 6061 aluminum and is more in the same weight/ride class as the CAAD5.

Despite my caveat, if you DO decide to get the ZR 2.0, I've seen the frameset (frame, fork and headset) for $299 at chucksbikes.com which is quite inexpensive.

Happy hunting...

A friend of mine has the Ultegra ZR2.0 and it's a great
bike but it's heavier than my TCR2 with 105 oddly enough.

I also was concerned about getting one since the warranty
would be a questionable thing since Pacific bought the
remains.

The GT is a nice bike but for long term viability the
Cannondale gets the nod IMHO.
$818 + $225 = $1,037 for ZR 3.0 (same as 2.0)shawndoggy

the zr 3.0 and 2.0 frames are exactly the same except for paint. I've got the 3.0 (coming from an old school Lemond maillot jaune) and it's a big improvement in the stiffness department.

A full ultegra build kit with wheels and the whole 9 from Jensonusa is $818

Even with shipping, betcha that works out to less than $1,100 (unless you are in CA).

But for that price, what about the fuji team from bikes direct.com (http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/02fuji/fuji_team_sale.htm)

'course the extra $250 t'ain't nuthin' if you plan on keeping the bike for a while.
duh, kan't add... $1,043.00 nmshawndoggy
