Anybody listen to the second announcer on the broadcast? Was he on drugs or drunk? It was at the part where Chan McCrae was in the breakaway group, the "intelligent" announcer said Chann had said he was going back to triathlons the next season, the "idiot" announcer opined that Chann could go back to triathlons in the future and the "intelligent" (Bobke) announcer told him again that he has already announced he would..then, as they were nearing the commercial break, the "idiot" announcer started talking about how McCrae wasnt on contract with USPS next year and was possibly showing his ability in an attempt to get a contract next idiot..he doesnt have an USPS contract because he is going back to triathlons....really strange world when Bobke is the "intellligent" annoucner....
You have to forgive him...Wayne

I think he's from a race car background, which begs the question as to why he is used by OLN to cover bike racing? He did do the TdF last year, consequently he only recognizes Lance and Hincapie.
What the OLN coverage was missing was an analyst, Roll is a good commentator but seems to miss what is going on in the race. USPS was obviously riding for Ekimov once Hincapie was caught but they kept talking about LA getting ready to launch his winning move up Taylor street. Hell he barely hung on, Dionne and Ekimov had been the strongest up the climb for the last 2 or 3 laps so you knew any attack was going to come from them. There was never any commentary either about Hincapie going too early, etc.
And how did they come to the finish without the announcers knowing it?
Forget forgiveness, write OLN and complain!niednagl

I've also repressed that bozo announcer's name (hence I shall refer to him as "Mr. Hair Helmet"), but he almost singlehandedly managed to ruin my TdF viewing experience.

Mr. Hair Helmet's delivery style is an inadvertent self-parody of everything cheesy, canned and cliche about sensationalistic American sports commentary. He should be commentating truck pulls or arena football, not cycling.

Thus my plea: please all you kind and decent cycling fans -- if you really care about the sport, please write OLN and tell them just how truly awful this guy is!
Right! The finished just HAPPENED. I'm watching thescottfree

damn race, the announcers are chatting away, and BOOM! It's over without anyone uttering a peep that it was about to happen. I'm like, "What the HELL ...?"
I'm pretty sure...Wayne

Bobke thought they were going out on some short finishing laps (maybe that parade lap they did at the beginning), he alluded to this a few minutes before the finish. Why he thought that and why no one corrected him is beyond me.
Well, I'm glad itscottfree

really happened, because for a few bewildered minutes there I was quite sure I'd suffered a popcorn stroke and missed five or ten minutes of the race.
