What is the COMPONENTS board for? (rant)Kerry

Why do so many component questions get posted on the GENERAL board? One complaint heard about this board is that topics move to the bottom too fast. If you have a components/equipment question, it will disappear in less than a day on the GENERAL board. If people would post their components question on that board, then the two would work better and you'd get a lot better answers to your questions. Just a thought.

I rely more on the reviews for components. All the info is in one place and it's in a standardized format

That's great if you're thinking of buying something. What if you're trying to fix something or learn more? There's all sorts of info that doesn't get captured in the reviews. Then there's problems that haven't been encountered to frequently.

I recently posted a question on Time Impacts on the components board. You can go there and look at the hugely informative answers.

The general board gets more traffic, and people want answers. It's not right to post to the general board for this reason, but people do it anyway, and it works, so they will continue to do it.

If I had posted my question on Impacts on the general board, I am sure I would have received a better response than a joke about Looks.
