Here is an ad from the classifieds section.

"FOR SALE: 2001 Trek 5200 USPS Rare!!!!" I believe this is the bike ridden by the most riders on our local club rides. Where did this "RARE" come from?

Someone top this?

This auction is for 1 Schwinn 12 speed Superior Road Bike. It is black in color and the frame is in excellent condition. Black paint no rust. I do not know what year this bike is from. It has a 25" frame and the distance from mid seat post intersection to the handle bar intersection on the frame is 24". I am sure there is a technecal term that I don't know for that measurement. It has 27 inch rims x 4. three are Araya and one of the fronts is a weinmann. All seem to be pretty strait. The crank is a nerver with a 54 sprocket and a 40 spocket on it. Derailer is a suntour vgt v-gt or vg-t. lol. Anyhow, it doesn't have a chain right now. The handle bar needs a new leather wrap and the brake boots look dry as well. Bike is sold as-is. I have not ridden it so can't be sure it shifts smooth and all. It coasts great though. lol! Oh yea I almost forgot. The leather is coming off of the seat on the edges. I am 6'1"1/2 and the bike seems to fit me great. It needs staples or something. I would rather not ship so local people bid please. I will ship of course, please see shipping description. OK, IF YOU JUST WANT THE FRAME, CUT PACKING FEE to $20.00
-good luck thanks jeremy

God, I hope he's not talking about people stapling their
feet to the pedals (clipless primitivo?) or worse, the
frame needs "staples" to hold together.

Yep, sounds about 15. Funny.

there is this ebay'er who auctions a bike and inserts in the header not two or three other brands. For example, "56 cm Basso, not Trek, Cannondale, Colnago". What the heck is this person thinking? Of course it's not another brand. What is the point? This person auctions a lot of bikes too.
He does it for search enginesjtolleson

It is actually pretty smart, especially since a lot of folks search by manufacturer, and they probably aren't searching "Basso."

That's how I found a Sampson I snagged... by searching "Litespeed."
You're right..that is smart..internet is stranger and strangerDjudd

Yeah, it's a quite common practice on Ebay. I am only an ocassional Ebay seller, last time I put Castelli in one of my non-castelli clothing, I received an email from Ebay telling me that is "spamming", and is against Ebay regulation.
eBay reprimand ...tarwheel

I got the same reprimand from eBay for listing some old bike parts as "not Campy." They were Offmega and other knock-off Campy parts, so it seemed totally appropriate to list that way. The funny this is that I see eBay ads listed like that ALL the time -- particularly "not Colnago" -- so apparently they are not too diligent about policing.

It's called keyword spamming. Absolutely against ebay policy and grounds for immediate auction cancellation, without refund of fees, and possible account suspension.
