Silly question regarding stem rise(6 posts)

Silly question regarding stem risecyclejim
Sep 7, 2002 4:22 PM
If I go from a 80 degree 120mm stem to a 73 degree 120mm stem, my bars would be lower than they are now correct? Or is it higher? I always get confused with this. 90 degree would be 0 degree rise
80 degree = -10 rise (lower than 90 degree)
73 degree = -17 rise? (lower bar than 80 degree)

Am I right?

If I understand your numbers correctly, the bar will be 1.4cm lower with the 73 degree stem

A 90 stem should be parallel to the ground. Anything less than 90 will angle towards the ground and anything more than 90 will angle upwards.

A 73 degree stem will be parallel to the ground. An 80 degree has an upward angle of 7 degrees and a 90 will have an upward angle of 17 degrees.
Assumes a 73 degree headtubeFez
