Hi Curtis, One of the members of my family and my daily running partner is Benny, our male chocolate labrador. While sometimes my wife and daughters aren't very happy with me. Benny is always glad to see me come home and loves to do our morning 5 mile run together.

12 year old deaf, half-blind, cocker spaniel. Absolutely the best dog we've owned.
i've got a friend named billy-bob (william robert)curtybirdychopper

but its a much better dog name. is your dog the best because he's old and senile, or was he the best before old age.

my dog is a separation-anxiety ridden spaz, most of the time. but she's still the best.
Actually, he's been the best since he was 9 months nmDave Hickey

A wealthy man decided to go on a safari in Africa. He took his faithful pet dachshund along for company. One day, the dachshund starts chasing butterflies and before long the dachshund discovers that he is lost.
So, wandering about, he notices a leopard heading rapidly in his direction with the obvious intention of having lunch. The dachshund thinks, "OK, I'm in deep trouble now!" Then he noticed some bones on the ground close by, and immediately settles down to chew on the bones with
his back to the approaching cat. Just as the leopard is about to leap, the dachshund exclaims loudly, "Boy, that was one delicious leopard. I wonder if there are any more around here?"

Hearing this, the leopard halts his attack in mid-stride, as a look of terror comes over him, and slinks away into the trees. "Whew," says the leopard. "That was close. That dachshund nearly had me."

Meanwhile, a monkey who had been watching the whole scene from a nearby tree figures he can put this knowledge to good use and trade it for protection from the leopard. So, off he goes. But the dachshund saw him heading after the leopard with great speed, and figured that something must be up. The monkey soon catches up with the leopard, spills
the beans and strikes a deal for himself with the leopard. The leopard is furious at being made a fool of and says,"Here monkey, hop on my back and see what's going to happen to that conniving canine."

Now the dachshund sees the leopard coming with the monkey on his back, and thinks, "What am I going to do now?" But instead of running, the dog sits down with his back to his attackers, pretending he hasn't seen them yet... and just when they get close enough to hear, the dachshund says,"Where's that monkey? I sent him off half an hour ago
to bring me another leopard."

East Siberian Laika (Russian Bear Dog)

Name = Dakota

72lbs. and doesn't bark.
i need a bear dog who likes vodka too.curtybirdychopper
Sep 6, 2002 1:44 PM
i sometimes go backpacking, and i've run into bears a lot. i think greta would chase the bear for a while which is not so good.

if i had a laika, it would be no problem, not to mention i like vodka martinis. do they carry a barrell under their collar with vodka in it like a st bernard??? that would be perfect.

Our third child is a 90lb black german shepard. My two boys (the real things) are 8 and 10 so they are always together with the dog, which makes my wife happy as we live in the woods. The problem however, is that we recently moved to Maine and have bear in our area, and of course, chose the exotic name "Bear" for our dog - therefore, my wife is afraid if the kids are actually yelling bear, she will think they are yelling at our "Bear."

We just lost Helen, a toy poodle who we'd found as a stray while driving 12 years ago. By our vet's estimate she was between 20 and 23 years old when she had a stroke while being walked last Friday morning. I had to do the Last Ride to the vet for her. RIP Helen; now my late father-in-law has her for good!

Any dog that doesn't bark, chase me while I'm riding my bike or poop in my yard. But I guess my favorite dog would not be a dog at all but a cat.

That was Indian Pass in the Chugach Mountains near Anchorage where I live. This picture is of Ship Lake during the same run. It was a loop trip over three passes with a total distance of about 20 miles, a lot of it off trail. In the summer, I usually do one or two long runs in the mountains like that each week.
