I am sure that Tammy/Tommy had some horrible childhood trauma that made her cheat, use steroids, and destroy her body and career. How dare you make fun of her. I suppose you think this is funny, too.
Geez, give it a break.Spinchick

Normally I find your posts humorous, Spirito, but enough is enough. Posting the pic isn't so bad in itself but it gives the boys yet another thread to get into a pissing contest about who can make the crudest remarks.

I hope this poor woman doesn't ever read this forum.
She's a cheat, pure and simple.peloton

I've stayed away from making any crude comments about Thomas, but I wouldn't care if she does read this forum. I think the general disdain for her has a lot less to do with her looks than the fact than she has repeatedly cheated, sued our sport's governing bodies when she didn't get her way (and then dropped the suit when, guess what? Busted for doping!), and made no effort to reform herself after her first doping bust. She's a cheat and a thief, and I hope she feels bad about herself now. Her looks have nothing to do with how most cycling fans feel about her. Check out the poll on Velonews over how people feel about her ban if you don't believe me.

A lot of athletes we all admire the accomplishments of aren't all what you would call attractive. Doping and cheathing is never attrative.

to criticism of her cheating. They've been personal. That's just juvenile and uncalled for.

When someone sacrifices their body and in this case sexuality to cheat... they have crossed the line of whats right and they should expect anything. It doesn't mean I'm going to go out and make fun of her but other people will and to a certain extent I can't say they are wrong because the minute she started taking drugs was when she asked for it.

Once again... missing the major issue herePODIUMBOUNDdotCA
Sep 6, 2002 12:52 PM
The major issue has nothing to do with that Tammy looks like a man. But rather that she was doping. What makes it worse is that although you can't discriminate based on looks it was still rather obvious. Its not normal for a woman to be that ripped which when she's been caught before for drug use is a fairly major marker that something is up there.

THANK YOU, NICK. Man, so many people think we are knocking this person for her looks. Her masculine looks only indicate how far she went to cheat. This ribbing has nothing to do with discriminating against how this woman looks, only that she is dishonest. I would hope that all of us are very tolerant of all types of body shapes and facial appearances of people riding out there on our favorite route; anyone who is legitimately getting out there to get some miles in is ok by me...as long as they play by the rules...any person, whether male or female, is a pariah once they get busted for drug use.

But it's perfectly OK, and in fact encouraged for women to take drugs to lose weight, have plastic surgery, get breast enlargements to look more femine since they aren't competing and don't look more masculine. What a load. Face it, most men are drawn to attractive women like moths to a flame and men do their best thinking with their little head. Standing back and claiming you didn't get burned b/c you don't find some one attractive isn't a great accomplishment.

What you guys failed to do was to seperate the drug issue in sports from the character assination and sensationalization. Might as well be writing for the National Inquirer and use that littel head for some yellow journalism. Do you honestly think you would've had as many views or gotten as much milage out of this topic if it weren't for the the bottom dwelling tactics?

You people are so pathetic. The woman looks like a dude and people want to make fun of her. SO WHAT. It is as funny as she is scary.
That is a picture that would wind up on Saturday Night Live or another comedy show if she were more famous an athlete and people would laugh. Crude, rude and obnoxious is often funny. Lighten up and allow others to post what they want and stop dissecting everything and being so politically correct about everything. JEEEEEEEEEEEEZZZZZEEEEEEEEEE

Well, I have absolutely no problem with the sensational character assination of someone who made the concsious decision to take steroids, or anyother drug, solely to cheat their way to success in sports!
Well I missed the boat here.Leisure

I'm not feeling too strongly one way or the other with the ridicule and everything; she's done her share to earn it and it's part of the turf when you're a public figure. Who here hasn't seen the pics comparing George W. to assorted monkeys? They're freaking hilarious, and you don't see anyone crying about how horribly degrading those pics are...for our president, no less. On the other hand, isn't it enough that her career is over and everyone knows all her previous accomplishments don't mean anything?

And hypothetically speaking, if Lance were proven to be doping how many of us would be as harsh? You have to acknowledge the double standard.
