Century on Sunday, tropical storm on SaturdayTig

The local club's century is scheduled for this Sunday morning, but Tropical Storm Fay may have other plans. Hopefully it will have passed quickly enough to be out of the way sometime Saturday while not turning into a hurricane. I'll ride in wind or rain, but not both!
Wimp...put your kilt on and ride. (nm)NJRoad

Actually that's my dad's saying. Unfortunately, I sometimes adopt it as well. At least I don't go sailing in thunderstorms on purpose like he did!

Why does each generation have to re-invent the wheel or find out that fire burns?

Winds are already 30 knots. The SS Minnow (new temporary name for my bike) is ready to sail...

Having survived a number of hurricanes and tropical storms, I would pass on that one. Not that it's really an issue -- if the storm actually passes through your area at that time, there is no way any responsible promoter would not cancel the ride. It's bad enough being inside the house during a tropical storm, let alone trying to do something outdoors. Even a moderate tropical storm has consistent winds over 35 mph and they often produce more rain than hurricanes. Not a good combination. The risk of car drivers not seeing you goes way up, as well as potential harm from blowing debris, trees, electrical wires.
Are you talking about the "Texas Coastal Cruise"?hycobob

I ride with Space City Cycling Club and its a pretty fair bet that it will be rescheduled for a later date. Thats not official, but I can't see Rufus and Bill risking it. If you've just gotta ride no matter what, break out the rollers/trainer. Or show up at the Barn and ride with Craig "Alpha-Dog", nothings too tough for him.
Yes, I ride with them tooTig

I've been riding with this group since '87 (wow, has it been that long?!). I'm easy to spot. Just look for the Tigger tattoo on the back of my calf.

I must be a relative newbie. I've been with SCCC since '98. I'm sorta easy to spot on my dark green "Lite'ndale...Cannondale with a Litespeed fork that Chris Langley loaned me. But by next weekend I'll be sporting a new Sampson Silverton.
